Abstract:

As the world becomes increasingly complex, technological advancements must go beyond purely network-related parameters and address broader societal and economic needs. This paper provides an overview of the 6G-BRICKS project, emphasizing the role of Key Value Indicators (KVIs) in evaluating the societal impact of 6G technologies. Experimentation platforms from Belgium and France are federated under a core site in Greece, in order to create a trusted 6G testing facility. 6G-BRICKS focuses on use cases and related Proof-of-Concepts (PoC) towards the evaluation of developed KVIs in areas such as safety, security, energy efficiency, digital inclusion and business value. A literature survey on the approach towards the societal development goals is performed for other related EU funded projects, such as HEXA-X and FIDAL. By aligning technological advancements with societal needs, 6G-BRICKS fosters an inclusive, sustainable, and economically viable 6G ecosystem, setting a precedent for future network development.
